Hi Lindcast,
You can use a AUX cable to playback Audio from a Nano to any Orbitsound bar or Speaker (including your T9), you just need to plug the cable into both and switch the bars source until you hear audio. The iPod would need power/to be charged from another source.
The Bars that support docking directly are any T series bar save the T6 and the Orbitbar12.
I would be hesitant about buting anything from eBay etc. I would stick with the AUX cable to your/any Orbitsound bar or speaker route.
