My soundbar makes a strange sound using an optical connection

This article will help you if you hear no sound, a ‘machine gun’ like noise or strange sounds when using HD channels and/or apps.

Fixing strange noises when using optical

You can experience strange noises from your soundbar when the signal from your TV or set top box is incompatible with your soundbar. You need to change a setting on your output device (TV or set top box). To do this follow the below steps:

  1. Locate the Sound or Audio settings on your TV and/or other devices.
  2. Under any setting that mentions Optical/TOSLINK/SPDIF or Digital Audio change the output format to PCM, Stereo, Off or Normal.
  3. If you are having difficulties, contact Orbitsound support. We should be able to talk you through most devices to get to this feature. It will help if you have your TV/device(s) make and model before contacting us.

Alternatively, you could use the AUX source to deliver sound to the soundbar from the headphone or AUX output from the TV or device. This analogue signal will not have the same problem as mentioned above. Some TVs and devices can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth, which will also fix the issue.
