Most people assume the obvious place to position your soundbar would be directly under your TV but due to our unique Airsound™ technology, it doesn’t quite matter where you place the soundbar. However, here are a few things you should note to maximise the impact of your soundbar.
- Centralising the soundbar under the TV would give you a balanced sound experience, so the picture and sound play from the same origin
- Ensure the side firing speakers are clear from any obstacles within 15cm of it's reach for clear audio
- The soundbar can be mounted above or below the TV but mounting it under the TV is more convenient. We usually recommend leaving 10cm between the soundbar and the TV so the IR sensors are clear (and it makes the soundbar more accessible)
- Ensure the soundbar doesn’t block the TV screen
- The listener should be in-line of sight from the front speakers (not sure if this is correct)
- As Orbitsound subwoofers are of slim profile and wirelessly connected to the soundbar, they can be hidden anywhere within a 10m reach with minimum obstacle between the soundbar and the subwoofer
- If you are obsessed with replicating the ‘live experience’ in your living room then place your subwoofer on the right side of your TV and soundbar – the bass and brass section of an orchestra are traditionally located on that side
It’s not only about where you place your soundbar. Great sound also depends on your home environment. A room with curtains and carpet helps to dampen the noise reflections for more authentic sound. Speakers and subwoofers out in the open also produce better sound so avoid placing them in an enclosed shelf and cupboard space.
